Recently celebrating its 50th year of trade, DFS is the leading upholstery retailer in the UK, specialising primarily in sofas through to other household furnishings.
In late 2018, DFS were looking for a solution that could serve as an extension to their existing IT team that would carry out the installation of an Adyen PED upgrade throughout their UK estate. Vista was one of several vendors competing to be DFS’ partner of choice.

Based on our practice in deploying first-class project services and our ample experience in working to tight timescales, Vista was then delighted to be selected by DFS to deliver their full PED upgrade project.
On selecting Vista, DFS were confident in our ability to deliver not only devices into stores, but provide a full solution of basic training and testing once on site. Having an extensive reach across the country, Vista were well placed to meet DFS’ logistical requirements.
The project involved the complete removal of DFS’ existing PEDs as well as the configuration and installation of the Verifone V400M/4G PEDs that would replace them. In addition, Vista developed a removal process for the legacy hardware on-site so that all kit could be safely returned to DFS for storage, all within a three-week period.
Leading up to retailers’ busiest trading period in the run up to Christmas, Vista began the installation in late November 2018. We therefore needed to ensure that not only could we complete the installation work in the background of each store environment, but that this was also done with minimal disruption to prevent any interruptions to their typical day of trading.
All installations took place between Monday – Thursday during normal trade hours, so that DFS could operate as usual during their busiest weekend periods. Within the space of three weeks, Vista successfully provided 11 stores with 3 PEDs, 3 stores with 4 PEDs, and the remaining stores all with 2 PEDs per store.
Vista’s Projects team seamlessly delivered on our commitments to meet tight timeframes, by working collaboratively with DFS throughout each phase of the project. Constant communication ensured that each store was notified ahead of schedule and serviced quickly and efficiently with no setbacks.
DFS gave Vista the flexibility we needed that enabled us to actually install more devices in one day than was initially scoped, meaning we were able to complete multiple installations per engineer, per day.
The project was delivered successfully, on time, and with minimal input from the internal team. We experienced no disruption to stores with communication and management of the project consistent throughout. This has given us the confidence to build on the relationship and explore other opportunities where Vista is able to add significant value.
It was an absolute pleasure working with DFS rolling out their Adyen solution. It was a straightforward project, with clear guidelines and expectations from the customer. They gave us full control in terms of rollout approach and flexibility.
Solid communication and support from all parties helped deliver a successful project. The onsite installations were achieved with no impact to the store operations. Overall, a seamless transition and I really look forward to working with DFS on future projects.
