Vista raises £1,675 pounds for Ty-Hafan charity!
Tŷ Hafan is one of the UK’s leading pediatric palliative care charities. They offer comfort, care, and support to life-limited children, young people, and their families, throughout Wales. Importantly, They are also a family’s safe haven when their child is close to the end of life, providing expert comfort and support in their darkest hours and beyond.
A few years ago the amazing team at Vista raised much-needed funds for Tŷ Hafan. Unfortunately, the pandemic has adversely affected many sectors and charities like Ty-Hafan weren’t an exception. Fundraising took a massive hit during this period as the events organised were being canceled.
Despite the challenges, Tŷ Hafan continued to provide critical care to many children with life-limiting conditions throughout the UK. The team at Tŷ Hafan really is fantastic. They have made the hospice a place where children and families can enjoy their time together in a safe and supported environment.
Vista’s Environmental and Social Committee got together and discussed holding a fundraising event named “Miles for Smiles”.
The concept was simple: we all commit to raising money for the charity one mile at a time!
The idea was to run, walk, cycle, swim as many miles as possible in 7 days, and in doing so raise money for Tŷ Hafan. Vista would donate £1 for every mile completed by the employees involved. To motivate employees, even more, there was a prize for the person that covered the most miles individually.
Vista employees covered 1500 miles, over the period of 7 days and also collected £175 on the just giving page set up for the charity. As promised, Vista donated £1500 towards the charity along with the money collected on the just giving page.
Darren James, Service field administrator at Vista, won the prize for the most miles covered individually by collecting a whopping 224 miles!
