SCT becomes part of the Vista Technology Support family
Written by James Pepper, Vista Technology Support CEO
A few days have passed since we shared the news that Vista had acquired its long-term service partner in Ireland, SCT. Since then, I have been overwhelmed by the messages of congratulations and good luck from people from across the retail, hospitality and technology industry. I have always thought myself lucky to work in an industry that has so many genuinely nice people, but when we shared the news of the SCT acquisition, the response was fantastic.
I have received quite a few questions about our strategy from the industry press, including how the deal came about and our future plans.
Our decision to acquire SCT was an easy one, and I believe that there are so many reasons that supported our decision including:
- SCT are the only independent retail IT services provider of scale in Ireland
- Like Vista, SCT have technology storage and staging facilities from which Vista’s UK customers with stores and restaurants in Ireland will be able to benefit from
- They have a great people culture, which is very similar to the culture to we enjoy at Vista
- The business has an impressive customer portfolio and great customer relationships
- Like Vista, SCT is a growing business which is in a strong position both operationally and financially.
- Both organisations can learn best practice from each other
- SCT and its customers will benefit from Vista’s technology developments.
Whilst we have enjoyed working in partnership with SCT for many years, we felt that the time was right to take the partnership to another level.
Running a high-quality retail and hospitality IT services company in Ireland (or any other country for that matter), requires a sophisticated operation. It’s so much more than simply leasing a property, recruiting a few people and putting a sign up on the front door.
Providing high quality IT service operations in Ireland requires dedicated, highly skilled people, fully functional and highly equipped staging and storage facilities, integrated and scalable logistics, best practices, systems, technology and processes. But most of all, services delivered by people who genuinely care about the success of the business and its customers. This statement, I believe best describes SCT.
I am very much looking forward to working closely with John Hogan and my new colleagues and encourage anyone that requires retail or hospitality IT support in the UK, Ireland or the rest of the world to get in touch.
