We’re proud to announce the successful completion of a major milestone: the installation of 2,000 new self-checkouts (SCOs) across 257 of our customers’ stores throughout the UK. This ambitious project, which began on 10th June 2024, has spanned 1 year, and marks a significant step forward in enhancing the customer experience in retail.
A Nationwide Effort
From the northernmost store in Thurso to the southern tip in Penzance our teams have covered an incredible 129,326 miles to bring this transformation to life. With up to 11 teams working concurrently each night, the scale and coordination required were immense.

- 🏪 257 stores upgraded or newly equipped: 224 upgrade sites, 33 new store sites
- 🛠️ Average of 7.8 SCOs per site
- 🧭 Furthest reach: Thurso to Penzance
- 🚚 129,326 miles travelled
- 🕒 Over 6,000 hours spent assembling SCOs in our Cardiff Head Office Staging Centre
- 🏁 Largest install: 50 SCOs in one store
- 🐣 Smallest install: 3 SCOs
- 📅 Busiest month: April 2025, with 44 sites completed
- Each store received just three visits overall to complete the installation
